Pulsed-Field Gel Electrophoresis

Bio-Rad CHEF Mapper XA

The CHEF Mapper unit affords a means of separating mega- to gigabase length DNA molecules.  Such long molecules cannot be resolved using standard agarose or polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis techniques.  The CHEF Mapper can be used to identify restriction fragment length

polymorphisms, detect in vivo chromosome breaks and degradation, and determine the number and size of chromosomes from yeast, fungi, and parasites.  The CHEF Mapper's pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) capabilities make it a useful tool in preparation of large-insert DNA libraries.
