Distinguished Fellows

Through its Distinguished Fellows Program (initiated in 2008), the LSBI rewards those investigators who have made sustained, significant contributions to molecular biosciences research at MS State.  To become a Distinguished Fellow (DF), one must be a tenured faculty member holding the rank of Associate Professor or higher.  A Distinguished Fellow must have a prolonged record of high-impact scientific productivity, a national/international reputation in his/her field, an exceptional record of extramural competitive funding, a history of trans-disciplinary collaboration, and an outstanding personal commitment to increasing Mississippi's research and education capacity in molecular biosciences.  Along with the Associate Director, the Distinguished Fellows make up the Director's Advisory Committee and consequently DFs must commit time and effort to advancing collaborative efforts that advance the mission of the LSBI.  Nominations for DFs can come from any source.  However, because being a DF carries both considerable honor and responsibility, successful DF candidates must be approved by the Director's Advisory Committee (i.e., current Distinguished Fellows), the Vice President for the Division of Agriculture & Life Sciences, and the Vice President for Research & Economic Development.
